Our History

Blades School of Hair Design, originally known as Total Dimension, was founded in 1986 by Sue Garner and her daughter Wanda A. Paduano. Both owners have years and years in the field of cosmetology. They are giving back their knowledge and beauty experience to each student through a school environment that feels like a professional salon.

Our Mission

It is the mission of Blades School of Hair Design to prepare, educate, and encourage all students to acquire the proper skills to be successful at the Maryland State Board and as a professional in this field.

We believe in an innovative, hands-on approach to learning. Advancement in skills is dependent upon continued cooperation and engagement with all learning modules. In our learning environment, we believe in encouraging each student to be confident, unique, and creative with their talents.

We do this by providing a more interactive approach to our curriculum and give students the opportunity to perform services to actual clients under the supervision of our experienced and licensed instructors.

Our Partnerships & Accreditation

Using Pivot Point’s LAB, our students are able to access their textbooks, quizzes, and other learning material online wherever they are! Using this interactive curriculum means students can get access to the latest techniques and skills needed to be a licensed professional.

Students have the option to purchase kits and supplies for their education from the school. Blades School of Hair Design uses Sam Villa tools and Waugh professional clippers.

We also participate in Goldwell Color, allowing our students to get creative with splashes of color that guests love! After all, a good professional color is in demand and a crucial skill set as a stylist is becoming more and more prevalent in the beauty industry.

Blades School of Hair Design is accredited on probation by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS), which makes it possible for our school to offer federal financial aid to those who qualify.

We are also approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission and recognized by the Maryland State Board of Cosmetology. This ensures that students receive an education that meets Maryland’s requirements and is designed to help students sit for the state board to become licensed professionals.
